Dubai, UAE – Tridonic Middle East has just recently conducted a LED Future Forums in Cairo, Egypt targeted to the specifications people. The main seminar highlights were the following:
_a 360-degree overview on LED technology and Energy Savings
_LED Outdoor Portfolio, with emphasis on the Municipality Trialogue
_Future connected scenarios with net4more
Wolfgang Bernecker, Tridonic Austria’s Application Marketing Manager, was the main speaker.
Egypt, with a population of about 92,000,000 people, is among the top 25 countries in terms of electrical energy consumption, consuming around 138.6 million MWh/year (source: CIA, 2012). Of this, 25 percent accounts for lighting alone (source: Energy Efficiency Improvement in Egypt study, funded by the Global Environment Facility – United Nations Development Program). At present, Egypt has an overall low efficiency in using energy sources, and therefore, the recently concluded forum last 31st January, attended by 150 lighting designers, architects, and electrical contractors, presents a great opportunity for Tridonic to get a bigger market share in the Egyptian energy-efficient lighting sector.
Wolfgang Bernecker, Application Marketing Manager from Tridonic HQ, highlighted the best practices of using Tridonic intelligent LED solutions and lighting management systems, which can immediately have a direct positive effect on energy savings. He gave the participants a feel of what exactly Tridonic solutions can do for them, with emphasis on controlling light as a clincher to ensure that maximum energy savings is achieved no matter the lighting application type.
“I was impressed to get in touch with around 150 people from the Egyptian lighting industry. It was a joy to see the interest in the disruptive character of LEDs and its connectivity, although these opportunities are usually not part of the daily business yet. This evening was a great place to start connecting better and create the ecosystems to become even more successful in the future,” Wolfgang Bernecker said.
“The lighting specifiers in Egypt are very serious about opting for efficient solutions to meet the energy conservation agenda promoted by the Egyptian Government. Tridonic is very glad to share our latest developments in LED and lighting management solutions with the leading consultants, contractors and OEM partners in the country through this very successful seminar,” Rajeev Radhakrishnan, MD – Tridonic MENA, ASEAN, & India, stated.
“Energy saving is the main topic that drives the market nowadays in Egypt, and with Tridonic’s new LED portfolio, we are sure to be able to help the Egyptian market transition from CFLs to LEDs. We have already supplied more than 150,000 LED light sources in 2016, so we are lighting the present and the future,” Peter Helmy, Area Sales Manager of Tridonic’s Levant sales region, stated.
The forum content made a significant impact on the participants. With energy efficiency, power savings, as well as human health and safety as its main thrusts, the Egyptian government just recently came up with Decree 692/2015, which approved the standards for LED lighting products. It came into force just last May 2016, and these standards are now mandatory. With this decree, the Egyptian LED lighting market can now be considered a highly robust market, which Tridonic Middle East wishes to partake the biggest market share in.
